Article Title

There comes a time in every man's life when he must face his past. It can be a difficult time for even the pure hearted. But what if a man does not know his past? Every man is the sum of all the choices he has made in his life. If you do not remember what those choices were, who are you?

This man I know is my brother. I do not remember him. But I must stop him.

"I see you have arrived as I hoped. Foolish."

My names is Jake Haynes. The madman who stands in front of me is Luke Harrison. How can that be if we are brothers? It is a long story.

"Listen Harrison. You know as well as I do what sort of powers you can wield. It's best if we stop this here and now and go back with the police and figure out how to control your powers."

"Oh I can control them brother. That is what scares them. When they find out what you can do, they will come after you as well."

"That doesn't have to happen. Just come with us."

"Surely brother you do not understand our destiny. Do you not know the prophecies? No, of course you don't. I don't have time to explain it, but I will be the one to fulfill them."

I have no idea what he is babbling about. Both Harrison and I are the product of a military experiment. We were designed to be the next step in the evolutionary process of mankind. We are the fusion of cybernetics and human flesh. A feat most thought impossible - but I stand as living proof that it is possible.

"What prophecies? What are you talking about?"

"Our origin! The facts do not match with what is real. I must then doubt the facts. Our fate is greater than this rock!"

"This 'rock' is our home. I don't know what prophecies you've heard, but I assure you they're false. You must stop these rampages, stop this killing. There is no justification for that and you know it."

"We were meant to rule galaxies! I will do what it takes to achieve that. Sadly though…there can only be one path for the both of us to travel. Unfortunately, that path is only wide enough for one person."

He is talking in riddles again. He always has. He hates his human side and I know it. But like him I am no longer fully human. Something like that can eat away at you. Maybe that is why he is the way he is.

"Listen Harrison, if you don't want to come with them, at least come with me. Let's sit down and talk for once. We haven't had a real conversation before."

"And we probably never shall. Unfortunately my beliefs require that you, along with the virus that populates this planet, be exterminated. It is the only way."

"Whoa!! Wait a second Harrison, are you saying what I think you're saying? We've had misunderstandings in the past, but…"

"Goodbye brother."

I was sent here to stop him. And stopping him is exactly what I will do.

The government called me here - or more exactly brought me here - to talk to him. Harrison and I am the product of their perverse morals. Loose strings not yet handled. I don't know how they found me; but evidently they know I still exist. Because of my ties though, they don't dare kill me. They believe Harrison to be dead. They have no idea that their own child stands before them.

Harrison manifested his powers when he was created but died soon thereafter. Or so the government thought. I never manifested my powers when I was in government custody. We became two more failed government experiments.

I owe my existence to one man - for surely the experiment would have been terminated because of its failure to produce functional super-humans. He broke me out of a government facility in an amazing rescue. Harrison's body was caught in the collapse of the building. Evidently the man came back for it. He revived both of us. Harrison, thought to be dead, was most assuredly not. When I found that out I began to understand the breadth of our powers.

They seem to be energy based. I don't know how we generate our power, but we do. I can't explain how we fly, but we do.

I don't remember anything before I woke up from being rescued. Everything I know about myself and my recent past is from what my rescuer told me. I do not know Harrison. I know he is my "brother" in the sense that we share kindred DNA - a result of the manipulations done to us. Every time we have met we have battled - every time without getting to understand what we were fighting about. He always came at me with a unbridled rage. I always managed to escape with my life. Maybe not this time.
