Awesome Vector People Illustrations

Post by Jon | Posted in Artwork | Posted on January 28th, 2008

I’ve never learned how to use Adobe Illustrator before. I’ve never done any vector work before – which stinks because the vector stuff is really trendy these days. Nice vectors that are free are few and far between online – especially vectors of people. Imagine my glee when I stumbled upon Vector People Illustrations. A veritable treasure-trove of voluptuous vector visages of such voracious value it’s villaneous!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Feature

Post by Jon | Posted in Artwork | Posted on December 4th, 2007

Anyone who was a child of the 80’s can tell you who the Heroes in a Halfshell were. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles baby! On the surface its such a strange concept. I mean really. Mutant turtles? That can fight? That are ninjas? But sometimes the weirdest things can be the coolest things (though that is not a rule of thumb). What really made the turtles popular though was the Animated Series. Thus emblazoned for eternity into the fertile young American minds, TMNT would start raking in the money on all sorts of movies, cartoons, and ridiculous toys.

Do you remember the toys? I sure do. I have a turtle that transformed from a regular-looking turtle into a full-fledged mutant dynamo. I also had power jump Raph – you could bend him all the way down, and springs in his legs would make him jump a few inches. I also think I had a turtle that swam in the bath tub. I’m sure they made a turtle for every occasion. Bar Mitvah Mikey sounds like a hit to me.

Anywho, the reason I bring this up is because it is hiiiiigh time for another art feature. Turtle Time! In my wanderings about the site called Deviant Art, I have stumbled across many homages to our half-shelled friends. So I took it upon myself to gather together the best of the best. The most awesome kick-butt turtle art I could find. And I have done just that. For your viewing pleasure, here they are:

1. Leonardo

Leo was always my favorite. The leader of the team, he knew what was goin on. Plus he had two monstrous blades. What kid doesn’t like that?

2. Donatello

Killer Javascript Date Library

Post by Jon | Posted in Web-Development | Posted on December 4th, 2007

I ran into a great post on Ajaxian the other day, and came across a javascript Date library. The only thing was, this wasn’t your regular run of the mill, calendar pop up, lots of scripting library. This was a ninja library. I library that picks up your form dates, breaks them and half, chops up the pieces and eats them for lunch. The demo is extremely awesome. Here’s a quote from the site itself:

Thanksgiving

Post by Jon | Posted in Life | Posted on November 23rd, 2007

So Thanksgiving was pretty good this year. We went over Judy’s parents’ place and hung out with their family. They had a mini family reunion, so it was fun to be aound a lot of people for the Day of Giving Thanks. As I was observing the different families there, and how they interacted, and who was from what branch of the family, I came to a funny realization. Soon enough, the family re-unions will just be my family and their immediate relations. That is, our parents, our brothers and sisters and our kids. As my parent’s generation passes, I’ll be the middle generation for the family gatherings. Weird to think that eventually I won’t be the kid anymore.

Tic-Tac-Toe Using Minimax and ASP.NET

Post by Jon | Posted in Programming | Posted on November 18th, 2007

“I’m sorry Dave, I can’t allow you to do that”. That chilling statement made by the machine HAL in 2001 A Space Odyssey is just one of the many examples of how humans have been fascinated by the idea of artificial intelligence. I myself am very interested in the subject and hope to go back to graduate school for a degree in the field. In the meantime I’m writing small applications like these to demonstrate what AI can do.
